Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ is an acronym for Frequently Asked Questions. This FAQ Page is an attempt to provide a comprehensive source of information about ScriptAssist™ and was created in response to questions that are frequently raised by our customers. If you do not find the information you are looking for here, please e-mail us at: support@scriptassist.com so we may address your question, problem or concern. We hope you find this information useful.

What versions of ScriptAssist™ are available?

ScriptAssist™ comes in three different versions:

Online Version:
The Online version is available by subscription for $19.99 per month. You must be connected to the Internet whenever you use this version.

Download Version:
The Download version is available for a purchase price of $129.99. You must connect to the Internet to download this version, but once you have downloaded it you can use it offline at any time.

CD Version:
The CD version is available by mail for $159.99 and comes on a single CD (Compact Disc). Your computer needs a CD player to use this version.

What are the differences in these versions?

All three versions of ScriptAssist™ are the same, the only difference is the way they are delivered to you. If you don't know which one to buy, please try our online demo.

Our online demo works just like all three paid versions, but it is limited to a small portion of the full program. Nevertheless it gives you an opportunity to "try before you buy".

Do I have to be on the internet to use ScriptAssist™?

Yes and no. The Download and CD versions of ScriptAssist™ work as a stand alone program, so no Internet connection is required. But if you buy the Online version which is available as a monthly subscription, you must be connected to the Internet while using ScriptAssist™.

Please note that all versions of ScriptAssist™ include a page of links to other web sites you may find useful as a screenwriter. These links only work when you are online, so no matter what version you use, you must be online to use these links.

Why do I have to use a browser? Why can't I use Word or my Screenwriting Software?

One of the most powerful features of ScriptAssist™ is the ability to find almost anything related to screenwriting by simply clicking on a link. This is because ScriptAssist™ uses a language called HTML which is the same as that used on the Web. You need a browser to read the HTML markup.

What browsers are compatible with ScriptAssist™?

Any frames capable browser (Internet Explorer®, Netscape®, Opera, Safari etc.) with Javascript enabled.

Do I need anything else to use ScriptAssist™?

ScriptAssist™ is completely self-contained. You don't need any additional software except for a Web browser that supports frames and Javascript (see previous question). ScriptAssist™ will work in conjunction with any screenwriting software you may already have. It is also relatively simple to create a screenplay template in a word processing program using the guidelines and examples in ScriptAssist™.

Can I use the examples given in ScriptAssist™?

Yes. To use these examples as a formatting template, just copy and paste! However, you must respect the copyright of the writers whose works are referenced in the program. Taking someone else's work and passing it off as your own is plagiarism and illegal.

I want to use ScriptAssist™ on my laptop but with the smaller screen it is hard to see the information. What can I do?

ScriptAssist™ uses a method in your browser called Frames. This allows the user to have moveable and re sizable windows and a static window to display the contents of the requested information. Just click and hold down your mouse button on the edge of a window you want to resize. Drag in the direction you want to make the window larger, smaller or to even disappear. For example, if you do not want to see the list of KEYWORDS on the left, click your mouse and hold the button while you drag the edge of the window to the left until it disappears.
